Born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO, saxophonist, composer, and educator Anisha Rush began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and immediately developed an interest in jazz and gospel music. Anisha earned a BM in Jazz Studies from the Thompson Jazz Studies Program and a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Recently, she was chosen to be part of the Mentor Fellowship at the Stanford Jazz Workshop where she played and taught alongside world-class musicians and educators.
Anisha actively performs as bandleader of her own quartet. As a sidewoman, she has performed alongside Shane Endsley, Dawn Clement, Art Lande, Greg Gisbert, and Ron Miles. Anisha has been an active member and educator of the Denver music scene for the past 10 years. Soon, however, she plans to make her way to Chicago where she hopes to continue to chase after her musical goals.
