{"id":13093,"date":"2018-08-02T02:30:18","date_gmt":"2018-08-02T02:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/?p=13093"},"modified":"2018-08-02T02:30:18","modified_gmt":"2018-08-02T02:30:18","slug":"the-launch-of-the-amp-youth-choirs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/the-launch-of-the-amp-youth-choirs\/","title":{"rendered":"The Launch of the AMP Youth Choirs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12104\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/AMP-Logo_final-1-2-e1519670564657.jpeg\" alt=\"AMP Logo_final-1 2\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/>The Atlanta Music Project is pleased to announce the launch of the Atlanta Music Project Youth Choirs, sponsored by Cricket Wireless, for the fall of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Open to all students from anywhere, the AMP Youth Choirs are the most advanced vocal\u00a0ensembles at AMP and are designed for music students who are already proficient singers.<\/p>\n<p>Performing both standard and world choral literature,\u00a0it is AMP\u2019s goal for the AMP Youth Choirs to become one of the top youth training choir programs in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Admittance to the AMP Youth Choirs is granted through a competitive audition process only, which is held each year in late August\/early September. Students who accept an invitation to join the AMP\u00a0Youth Choir must commit to attending for the entire school year.<\/p>\n<p>All AMP Youth\u00a0Choir members will receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choir Folder<\/li>\n<li>Concert Attire<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The AMP Youth Choirs are tuition-free, but there is a $25 registration fee ($10 for siblings) for each semester. Payment plans are available.<\/p>\n<p>For all rehearsals and concerts, AMP will provide shuttle service to and from Oakland City MARTA Station.<\/p>\n<p>All AMP Youth Choir rehearsals and concerts take place at Sylvan Hills Middle School located at 1461 Sylvan Road SW Atlanta, GA 30310<\/p>\n<p>AMP Youth Choir auditions will take place at the South Bend Center located at\u00a01955 Compton Drive SE Atlanta, GA 30315. Auditions slots are assigned on a first come first serve basis, as applications are received.\u00a0Apply to audition for the AMP Youth Choirs\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/application-and-registration\/youth-choirs-application\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">REQUIRED CHOIR AUDITION REPERTOIRE:<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">PERFORM ONE SOLO PIECE<\/h2>\n<p>AMP JUNIOR\u00a0YOUTH CHOIR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All voices<\/li>\n<li>Age: grades 5 through 8<\/li>\n<li>Level: intermediate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rehearsal Schedule:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thursdays\u00a06:30pm to 8:00pm<\/li>\n<li>Saturdays\u00a0 9:00am to 12:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AMP\u00a0SENIOR YOUTH CHOIR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Age: grades 9 through 12<\/li>\n<li>Level: advanced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rehearsal Schedule:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thursdays\u00a06:30pm to 8:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Saturdays\u00a0 9:00am to 12:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CONCERT SCHEDULE (FOR JUNIOR &amp; SENIOR YOUTH CHOIR)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Holiday Concert: December 8, 2018. Dress Rehearsal 9:00am; Concert 12:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Black History Month Concert: February 9, 2019. Dress Rehearsal 9:00am; Concert 12:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Spring Concert (joint with AMP Youth Orchestras): May 4, 2019:\u00a0Dress Rehearsal 4:00pm; Concert 7:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ELECTIVE CLASSES:<\/p>\n<p>Music Theory<\/p>\n<p>All AMP Youth Orchestra &amp; Choir students are eligible for Music Theory Classes, which will\u00a0emphasize and develop\u00a0note reading, rhythm comprehension and ear training. Students must commit to attending the class for the entire semester (September to December and\/or January to May):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Music Theory Level I: Saturdays after rehearsals: 1:00pm to 2:00pm<\/li>\n<li>Music Theory Level II: Saturday after rehearsals: 2:00pm to 3:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Conducting<\/p>\n<p>A limited number of students will be accepted, through an application and interview process, for the conducting classes.
