{"id":13088,"date":"2018-08-02T02:25:45","date_gmt":"2018-08-02T02:25:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/?p=13088"},"modified":"2018-08-02T02:25:45","modified_gmt":"2018-08-02T02:25:45","slug":"the-launch-of-the-amp-youth-orchestra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/the-launch-of-the-amp-youth-orchestra\/","title":{"rendered":"The Launch of the AMP Youth Orchestras"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"vc_custom_heading\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12104\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantamusicproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/AMP-Logo_final-1-2-e1519670564657.jpeg\" alt=\"AMP Logo_final-1 2\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/h3>\n<div class=\"kleo_text_column wpb_content_element animated animate-when-almost-visible el-appear start-animation\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>The Atlanta Music Project is pleased to announce the launch of the Atlanta Music Project Youth Orchestras for the fall of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Open to all students from anywhere, the AMP Youth Orchestras are the most advanced instrumental ensembles at AMP and are designed for music students who are already proficient players.<\/p>\n<p>Performing both standard symphonic music and musical genres reflecting the culture of the communities we serve, it is AMP\u2019s goal for the AMP Youth Orchestras to become one of the top youth training orchestra programs in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Admittance to the AMP Youth Orchestras is granted through a competitive audition process only, which is held each year in late August\/early September. Students who accept an invitation to join the AMP Youth Orchestras must commit to attending for the entire school year.<\/p>\n<p>All AMP Youth Orchestra members will receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instrument<\/li>\n<li>Orchestral Folder<\/li>\n<li>Concert Attire<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The AMP Youth Orchestras are tuition-free, but there is a $25 registration fee ($10 for siblings) for each semester. Payment plans are available.<\/p>\n<p>For all rehearsals and concerts, AMP will provide shuttle service to and from Oakland City MARTA Station.<\/p>\n<p>All AMP Youth Orchestras rehearsals and concerts take place at Sylvan Hills Middle School located at 1461 Sylvan Road SW Atlanta, GA 30310<\/p>\n<p>AMP Youth Orchestra auditions will take place at the Gilbert House located at 2238 Perkerson Road SW Atlanta, GA 30315. Dress Rehearsal 9:30am; Concert 12:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Winter Concert: March 9, 2019. Dress Rehearsal 9:30am; Concert 12:30pm<\/li>\n<li>Spring Concert (joint with AMP Youth Choirs): May 4, 2019:\u00a0Dress Rehearsal 4:00pm; Concert 7:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ELECTIVE CLASSES:<\/p>\n<p>Music Theory<\/p>\n<p>All AMP Youth Orchestra &amp; Choir students are eligible for Music Theory Classes, which will\u00a0emphasize and develop\u00a0note reading, rhythm comprehension and ear training. Students must commit to attending the class for the entire semester (September to December and\/or January to May):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Music Theory Level I: Saturdays after rehearsals: 1:00pm to 2:00pm<\/li>\n<li>Music Theory Level II: Saturday after rehearsals: 2:00pm to 3:00pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Conducting<\/p>\n<p>A limited number of students will be accepted, through an application and interview process, for the conducting classes.
